Why are you still printing the phonebook?
Like any business, we make decisions based on consumer demand, we continue to print and distribute the phonebook because there is demand for it.
What steps do you take to lessen the environmental impacts of printing the phonebook?
Our phonebooks are printed on 100% recyclable paper, printed with soy/vegetable oil based inks and produced with non-toxic adhesives.
To eliminate as much waste as possible, plastic bags are only used when necessary due to inclement weather and we utilize a GPS system to ensure we’re only printing and delivering the number of phonebooks required.
Why do I have to opt out of receiving the phonebook, shouldn’t it be an opt in service?
Our process is opt-out vs opt-in because: Many people who still use and want/need the phonebook would have a harder time opting in vs. those who have the means to opt out. Not all areas of Saskatchewan have access to high-speed internet or in some cases, any internet at all.
Why can’t I find who I’m looking for in the phonebook?
Being listed in the phonebook is a choice, whether a landline or a cellphone, it’s up to the individual/owner to be listed.
I opted out of receiving the phonebook, why is it still being delivered to my house?
When you opt out of receiving the phonebook we pass your information along to our distributor to have you removed from the distribution list. Neither we nor technology are perfect so there are times we have to make the change again. As well, many of our carriers are community teams and groups using phonebook distribution as a fundraiser so you may have received a phonebook by accident! If you continue to receive the phonebook, please call us 1-800-667-8201 or send an email to dw@directwest.com with your name, phone number and mailing address (including postal code) requesting to be removed from the distribution list.
What can I do with a phonebook I don’t need.
Your phonebook can be recycled at your nearest paper recycling bin or through your local curbside recycling program.
Who delivers my phonebook?
We work with a distributor to ensure delivery of the phonebook through community carriers. In many cases, the carriers are community groups or teams delivering books for fundraising purposes and include young people.

Why doesn’t Directwest combine the City & District Phonebooks in Regina and Saskatoon?
We conduct research on an ongoing basis to ensure that the geographic boundaries of each of the Mysask411 Phonebooks is ideal for residents. Consumers find two phonebooks easier to use. They search out options based on how far they are willing to go to shop. Business customers want a presence within their own market. Many customers from smaller markets do not wish to compete with firms from larger markets. The vast amount of information in each phonebook would require a larger, less convenient single phonebook.
How do I change my name, address or telephone number in the phonebook?
Please contact us by email at dw@directwest.com or call 1-800-667-8201.
